Bio

Michael J. (a.k.a. UltimateDJ™) has been involved in the music business for more than 30 years. First as a drummer in various types of
groups including jazz, pop dance and show bands, and then as a professional Club DJ. He created the first mobile disco business in the US in 1974. During the period from 1974-77, he polished his 'DJ' style as a mobile disc jockey spinning records in hotel clubs at private parties in the Northeast.

In 1977 he relocated to  the  Mid-South to become resident DJ at Daddy Long Legs disco in the Hyatt Regency Memphis. Continuing to refine his musical skills in Memphis, he was one of the premiere DJs pioneering the profession of 'breaking' new music provided to him by regional and national record label reps that visited 'his' club.

After various club DJ and consulting projects, UltimateDJ™ was offered an opportunity to move to Atlanta for another club engagement. He found success in the early 1980's as DJ for several Marriott hotels in the Atlanta area. Most notable was his stint as Master DJ at Bentley's at the Atlanta Airport Marriott where he spent most of that decade. During his tenure he was responsible for substantially increasing their revenues and keeping the club a top contender in the dance-club business with local audiences as well as hotel guests.

Throughout the 1990's he played club engagements in Chattanooga and Baltimore, and in Boston he returned to the mobile DJ business playing weddings and private parties.

Most recently Michael J has been playing private events throughout the Northeast US.

1973/74 - He was the drummer for the legendary jazz vocalist, Lee Wiley, playing engagements from West Va. and the Catskill Mountains, to Long Island and the Northern New Jersey area.

During the summer of 1981, UltimateDJ™ was the first white DJ to  spin Friday and Saturday nights at the world famous Mr. V's Figure 8 Club , an experience he calls "truly unforgettable".

1985 - Produced and performed (on drums) a cover of the band Chicago's 'Colour My World', which received airplay in Atlanta, the Lehigh Valley and Boston.

1987-88 - UltimateDJ presented a classical vocal music concert series bringing operatic talent to Atlanta focusing on art songs. Artists on this series included Metropolitan Opera National Council Audition Winner soprano Janet Folta, tenor John David DeHaan from San Francisco Opera and the late Scott Reeve, a baritone who performed with New York City Opera.
